Pentélique

The Pentélique (Greek: Πεντέλη Penteli , Pendeli or Pedeli ) is a Greek mountain located in Attique, in the North-East of Athens, high of 1109 Mr.

In the Antiquity, Pentélique was famous for its Marbre, which was used for construction of the Acropole and other buildings of ancient Athens, like with all the sculptors attics.

The mountain shelters a cave with stalactites, old a orthodoxe Monastère and the palate of the duchess of Pleasure. In 1995, a terrible fire, lasting nearly one week, devastated the main forest which covered the three quarters of the slopes of Pentélique. It is the most serious forest fire of the 20th century for Greece.
