Pendular esparto
Alfa Pendular is the name of a pendular Train of the type Pendolino exploited by the Portuguese public company CP.
It ensures of the services serving the towns of Braga, Oporto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Santarém, Lisbon, Albufeira and Faro, inter alia.
Its maximum speed is of 220 km/h. Thanks to its pendular technology, this train can negotiate the curves at speeds higher than the traditional trains. The combination high top speed and movement of pendulation of the cases ensures a dynamic experiment.
The Pendular Esparto is derived from ETR 460, the “Pendolino” developped at the point in Italy by FIAT ferroviaria and drawn by Giugiaro.
The oar comprises six elements. Its power is of 4,0 MW. The Bogie S were adapted to the broad spacing of the railroads Portuguese.
This material was assembled by Alstom (which repurchased FIAT ferroviaria in 2000) in its Portuguese factory of Amadora.
