Pemex
Pemex or Petróleos Mexicanos is a Mexican state enterprise in charge of the exploitation of the Pétrole.
It is created on March 18th, 1938, following the Nationalization of the Mexican oil industry which was then with the hands of alien companies. The president Lázaro Cárdenas takes the party of the oil workers in the conflict which opposed those to their American and British employers, the workmen asking for the rise of the wages and the welfare benefits. Unfortunately for them, the owners answer the requests negatively. Cárdénas declares whereas oil is constitutionally property of the Nation, and decides to increase national sovereignty on this resource nationalizing oil industry. It remained only to wait a few weeks so that the congress validates its creation project of this state enterprise.

In 1999, Mexico was the 7th producer of crude oil (2,906 million barrels), right in front of the Venezuela (2,784 million barrels).

Reserves

In 2000, Mexico is the 9th country of the world in term of oil reserves proven (28,260 billion barrels) behind the 72,6 billion barrels of Venezuela (6th). By comparison, the the United States would have less reserves (21,034 billion barrels, 12th rank), just as the Brésil (7,357 billion barrels, 15th rank).

* the price of the barrels to export for Mexico passed from 15,62 dollars in 1999 to 24,62 dollars in 2000. In 2006, its average costs are of 54,53 dollars.
- * In 1999, the oil exportations accounted for 7% of the whole of exports of the country, this figure passed to 10% in 2000.
History

on June 7th 1938, a decree promulgated by the Congress nationalized all the oil companies working on the Mexican ground. Pemex was thus created.

November 11th 2002: the president Vicente Fox Quesada repeated in front of CBI that it does not privatiserait this company.

December 11th 2002: certain workmen, to protest against the subcontracting of certain work to Chinese, closed the puit oil Tecominoacán 117 .
