Pellagra
The pellagra is a rather rare Maladie which in the case of reaches the poor populations whose base of the food contains few animal proteins, like the modes containing Maïs. It appears by three category of Symptôme S: Dermatite, Diarrhea and Insanity.
History
The relationship between a food deficiency and the pellagra were established by Joseph Goldberger, which in 1915 causes the symptoms in voluntary prisoners of them to which it gives a mode deprived during several months. The addition of a balanced food allows the cure of the disease then.Description
The demonstration of this disease is related to a Carence in Vitamine B3 and Tryptophane, an Amino-acid essential precursor of this vitamin, whose corn is particularly poor. The B3 vitamin was formerly called “PP vitamin”, of PP Factor or will pellagra preventive Factor , term created in the beginning to indicate the factor responsible for the pellagra.
The term was given by Francesco Frapoli in the Italian will pellagra (shovel will agra = sour skin), formed on the Latin pellis , skin, on the model of Podagre.
