Peking-Paris

The race Peking-Paris is regarded as the first great long-distance car trek. Organized by the French newspaper the Morning , the departure was given to Beijing on June 10th 1907.

Five competitors took the departure. Three only arrived at Paris after having traversed more than 16000 km, in 44 days for the first:

  • 1st Prince Scipion Borghèse on Itala 4 cylinders, 7433 cm ³ on August 10th in 44 days
  • 2nd Georges Cormier on Of Dion-Button in 64 days
  • 3rd Victor Collignon on Dion-Button in 64 days
