History
Arrived around the Year millet, Peiserots had gradually developed a democratic organization: each year the household heads elected two of them like syndics to manage the “common fruits”, i.e. the communal mountain pastures which belonged to the community; they drew from it a certain abundance of cash which removed misery. Thus they could in 1685, within the framework of the great movement of the " Against-réforme" who followed the Concile of Thirty, to rebuild a larger church and to decorate it with seven retables including three gilded with the fine gold, realized in particular by artists come from the Val Sésia in Italy.
At the beginning of the 18th century, they also build a sanctuary marial near a “miraculous source” located at 1 600m of altitude, Notre Dame of Vernettes, where a great pilgrimage each July 16th is held.
In 1792, on arrival of the French, those were not well accommodated because Peiserots had already repurchased the feudal rights to their lord. Thanks to their mobilization, they could limit the destroying fury of the revolutionists to the loss of the bells of the church while preserving their bell-tower which is most of Tarentaise.
At the same time the exploitation of a siver-bearing mine of Plomb starts, initially conceded by the Sardinian government with an English company. It is what explains the name of money Mounts given by the French revolutionists. Napoleon Bonaparte then First Consul decides in 1802 to install there the seat of the French École of the Mines which will be repatriated with Paris when the Savoy turns over to the Maison of Savoy in 1815. The population reaches 1  then; 600 inhabitants, but the seams are increasingly difficult access and problems of flood of the galleries bring the permanent closure of the mine in 1866 is six years after the fastening of Savoy in France.
Having acquired competences in the field of the foundry, many peiserots then leave to work in Paris where they settle in 3rd and the 11th district to open “bronze imitation” workshops. Some return then to the country and build there beautiful decorated masonries of wrought iron balconies. The Jourdan couple offers to the municipality the building of Ramonard and that of the Poste. The village knows then a fort Rural migration and the population falls to 400 inhabitants.
The Tourisme starts to develop as of the Années 1920, initially in Nancroix: this is why in 1934 the commune takes officially the name of Peisey-Nancroix. The first French chair-lift was built in Peisey in 1948. In 1963 begins creation from the station of Plan Peisey. Since December 2003, it shelters a station of the Vanoise Express, largest Téléphérique of the world which connects the ski stations of the Arcs and Plagne, by creating the field Paradiski. For a few years, this tourist development has allowed an increase of the population which rises today with more than 620 inhabitants.
