Peire de Ferrières

Peire de Ferrières (? -?)

Former senior of the chapter of the Puy, Master in the two rights, chaplain of the pope, chancellor of the king Charles II of Sicily, bishop of Lectoure, bishop of Boundary-line, archbishop of Arles (January 30th, 1304 - September 21st, 1307)

Biography

Promoted archbishop of Arles on August 23rd, 1303, it takes possession of its archbishop's palace on January 30th, 1304. At the time of sound archiépiscopat, one sees it intervening in his diocese. For example, in 1305, with Living room, Pierre de Ferrières cancels the right of pallium (tax perceived by the archbishop with its taking up the duties)…, but replaces it by a permanent tax on the sale of corn. In the same way, on January 8th, 1307, it pays a pastoral visit with the Monastère of Mollègès to regulate various problems related with its spiritual and temporal authority.
