Beta Pegasi (β Peg/β Pegasi) is a star of the Constellation of PEGASE. Its traditional name is Scheat ; unfortunately, this name is sometimes also used for Delta Aquarii.
Scheat is distinguished among brilliant stars by its temperature from relatively low surface (3700 Kelvin S) compared with stars like the Sun. Scheat is a Géante red 95 times larger than the Sun and has a Luminosité total equal to 1500 times that of the Sun. It is also a variable star irregular, its luminosity varying between the magnitudes +2,31 to +2,74.
