Pedro Sarmiento
Pedro Sarmiento is a politician of the kingdom of Jean II of Castille, repostero of the king and member of the Council of Castille. It replaced Álvaro de Luna after the battle of Olmedo (1445). When Don Álvaro recovered its influence, Pedro Sarmiento became in favor of prince Henri (future Henri IV of Castille).
It is with origin of revolt anticonverso of Tolède (1449) , with Clerk S Juan Alfonso and Pedro López Gálvez, and with Marcos García of Mora (also called Marquillos of Mazarambroz), which wrote a memory justifying the rebellion, of which the components were antijuives, tax and political. They managed to condemn their enemy the archdeacon of the cathedral: Fernando de Cerezuela.
The intervention of the Pape Nicolas V gave reason to the partisans of the Conversos. But diffusion of the estatutos of Limpieza of sangre (statutes of purity of blood), which held the stations and dignities in innumerable institutions (military municipalities, universities, orders…) to those which could show their origin of old Christians , the problem of the " had extended; new chrétiens" in all Castille. These statutes will contribute to the persecution of the Juif S with the Inquisition (1478) and the expulsion of the Juif S (1492) by the Kings Catholiques.
