Pectus excavatum

In the majority of the cases, this deformation has an only esthetic impact, but studies and testimonys of patients reached of this malformation showed that Pectus Excavatum, in severe cases, can cause problems of cardiac compression and breathing difficulties, had with the lack of place of the internal bodies.

The psychological impact of Pectus Excavatum, in particular at the teenagers, can be very important and involve complexes at the time of situations where the chest is exposed (beach, swimming pool,…) or even out of tee-shirt. It can also be the cause of discomfort, insulation or return to oneself especially when the person undergoes désobligeantes remarks or is found only vis-a-vis this problem.

There are for the moment no official statistics concerning this malformation, but according to testimonys, the men are touched by Pectus Excavatum than the women. It is often present as of the birth but can appear or become extensive with adolescence.
