Peak of Okinawa
The peak of Okinawa ( Sapheopipo noguchii ) is a bird of the endemic family of picidés the of the island of Okinawa Honto in the archipelago of Okinawa (Nansei Shoto, Japan).
Surface of distribution
The species is endemic north of the island of Okinawa (Yanbaru), in Japan, on a surface of distribution of approximately 15 km ².
Habitat
Forests of leafy trees in mountainous region. This habitat is threatened and degraded by the deforestation, the agriculture and the realization of a golf.
Reproduction
Nesting from February to May
Statute
Very limited total population, estimated at 40 individuals, gone up until approximately 200, currently in decrease.
