Peak of Montferrat

The Pic of Montferrat is a top of the peak Franco-Spanish border in the Massif of Vignemale.

Geography

It is located in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées, between Cauterets and Gavarnie, district of Argelès-Gazost in the National park of the Pyrenees. It borders in South-east the Glacier of the Vignemale.

History

First rise the 1792 by Berger S. They built on the top a turret, at the request of Louis-Philippe Reinhart Junker who directed a team of geodesists charged to specify the layout of the Franco-Spanish Frontière.
