Peak of Campbieil

The Pic of Campbieil is a top of the the French Pyrenees.

Etymology: camp vielh (Occitan) of camp , here, territory and vielh , old man, old. The Vielh Camp is a district of pastures of high mountain of the commune of Gèdre.

Geography

Located in the department of the Hautes-Pyrénées, between Aragnouet and Gèdre, in the National park of the Pyrenees.

History

The first known rise goes back to 1848, by the Loupot captain who carried out work of triangulation. Very easy access by its western slope, that of Gèdre, the top is attended by the sheep and the Isard S and was thus traversed, from time immemorial, by the shepherds and the hunters.
