History
Payson was founded in 1850 by sixteen members families of the Église of Jesus-Christ of the Saints of the Last Days. She was called then Peteetneet Creek, of the name of a chief Indien ute. She takes her current name the following year in homage to James Pace, one of these pioneers. She is built-in the 21 January 1853.
