Pax Americana

The Latin term of Pax Americana (French: American Paix ) is the product of American hegemony in the world. It results from the military incursions of the United States to reverse the hostile political regimes with the American interests and those of allied countries. It indicates also the relative period of Paix between the Western Pays, of the end of the Second world war in 1945, at our days coinciding with the dominations economic and Militaire of the the United States of America, in close cooperation with the the United Nations. This concept places the the United States in the modern role which the Roman Empire in its time could have ( Pax Romana ), and the British Empire at the 19th century ( Pax Britannica ), a position of gendarme of the world.

Thus since the end of the last world war, no armed conflict emerged among the Western Pays and no Nuclear weapon was used at quarrelsome ends. However, this situation of Pax Americana inevitably does not guarantee the complete absence of any conflict on a worldwide scale. Thus of many times, the the United States and its allies had to engage in various conflicts, as the Guerre of Korea (1950 - 1953), in the Guerre of Vietnam (1968 - 1975) or more recently the war of the Gulf (1990 - 1991) and the Guerre in Iraq (2003).

The term Pax Americana is at the same time used by the partisans and detractors of the foreign politics of the United States and can have various connotations, alternatively positive or negative according to the context in which it is employed.
