Les Pavillons-sous-Bois is a common French, located in the department of the Seine-Saint-Denis and the area Île-de-France, to approximately 10 km in the North-East of Paris. The city was officially founded the January 3rd 1905 but the first traces of activity on its current territory go back to the 17th century. The Pavillons-sous-Bois draw its name from the two hunting lodges built in 1770 and which were drawn up at the entry of the field of the Raincy. These two houses always exist and are today with the locality the Fork , in edge of RN 3. With the last census of 1999, the city counted 18.411 pavillonnais (be) .
Geography
The commune is located at ten kilometers in the east of Paris. The city present, according to the sectors considered, of the very diverse aspects. The Channel of Ourcq and RN 3 constitute since the creation of the city, a double dividing line between the zone northern, a long time disinherited, and the southern zone, dedicated to the traditional habitat and the urban activities.
To north, the projects in progress and recent installations tend to disenclose and rehabilitate this sector from now on promised with an unquestionable rise: the banks of the channel are gradually rehabilitated in space of leisures and walks; new suburban sectors and new ways were created; the installation of buildings of public services such as an administrative pole and a room multisports are being studied or in authority of realization as well as the installation of industries not nuisantes. In the south, the traditional suburban habitat extremely appreciated of Pavillonnais, remains largely majority in spite of the construction of apartment buildings on several sites of ZAC decided by the preceding municipality, whereas the city had been, hitherto, largely saved by the systematic proliferation of vertical collective constructions.
The current municipal will to protect quality of life in a maintained and improved environment is expressed by a new plan of occupation of the grounds conceived to preserve the suburban character of the city, by a followed programme of systematic restoration of the ways and public equipment, as well as the recent creation of the new academy Hector Berlioz with its public garden, and on standby of the launching of work of rehabilitation of the entry of the city, said sector of the Fork, with height of the houses of guard. Thus are guaranteed the dynamism of the city and safeguarding of what makes its originality in small crown of the Seine-Saint-Denis: its character of peaceful provincial village, at a few minutes of Paris.

History
The city of the Pavillons-sous-Bois has just celebrated its centenary. It exists indeed officially since the January 3rd 1905 but one finds the first traces of activity on his territory in the neighborhoods of the 17th century.
Towards 1600, the territory of the Pavillons-sous-Bois was only one marshy zone within immense the Forêt of Bondy which was only one reference mark for brigands. A riding path connected the locality " Fourche" with the field of the old manor of the Raincy builds on the heights. This one was destroyed when a rich person Surintendant of finances took possession of the field and built there a sumptuous castle in the place. After the family of the dukes of Orleans became in 1770 owner of the field of the Raincy, two hunting lodges were built with the place known as " Fourche" , with the entry of the alley which connected the castle to Main road. These houses were then only constructions of the territory which the Pavillons-sous-Bois occupy today. They are always, 235 years after, with the intersection of RN 3 and the avenue Jean Jaurès.
In 1789, the castle was given up by the family of the dukes of Orleans and the field of Raincy sold in piece. It is only in 1815, after the revolutionary torments and the First Empire, that the family of Orleans took again possession of the properties.
Napoleon III confiscated the goods of the family of Orleans and on sale in 1852 put them. Until the war of 1870, the field was gradually cut up. The whole of the grounds was delivered to the lotisseurs and of the majestic alley bordered of trees and gardens remained nothing any more but the central alley devoted to public circulation. This alley was famous later which occurred Jean Jaurès. The castle, when with him, was given up, destroyed and fell to the hands from the plunderers. The hunting lodges were also sold and of the small shops settled there.
When Raincy became a commune in 1869, the wood of the field were allotted to the commune of Bondy. Allotments multiplied there and a suburb was born: " Bondy-Forêt". At the time of the war of 1870, the Prussian army stationed several months with this limit. This marked still a little more separation between the communal territory of Bondy and that of the future commune of the Pavillons-sous-Bois. Construction by Louis-Xavier Gargan of the shoed voice connecting Aulnay-sous-Bois to Paris brought even more Paris iens on the spot and the small suburb of " Bondy-Forêt" took importance. It was not necessary any much more so that one separatist spirit invades " Bondy-Forêt" and the administrative autonomy of the suburb claims. Separation take place in 1905 and various names were proposed for this new city. January 3rd the city was created. The general advice chooses " House-Under-Bois" rather than " Bondy-la-Forêt" or " Pavillons" , this in homage to the houses of guard and the Forest of Bondy. In February 1905 took place the first elections. 489 people expressed themselves on the 644 voters. The city continued to develop and attracted more and more not very fortunate but avid Paris iens of gone good grounds. The Pavillons-sous-Bois counted 3.646 inhabitants in 1911.
Little before the Great War, the old installations of the treatment plant of draining, located at the north of the Channel of Ourcq, on the sector known as " Poudrette" disappear. The released ground will remain a long time quasi-desert, presenting with the commune an main issue healthiness. It will be definitively regulated only at the ultimate end of the 20th century by work of extension of the surrounding industrial park and the creation of a new way. In the years which followed, a new industrial park appeared in the north of the Canal of Ourcq thanks to the constuction of the bridge of Europe and the restoration of the bridge of the Forest. To satisfy the need for an increasing population, new school facilities and sportsmen are built.
After the war, the city continued to develop and in the Années 1960 a new town hall was built as well as new equipment for the culture and the spectacles. One of the problems recurring of the city, the cleansing of and surface waters of the plates of the Raincy Montfermeil, was solved only as from the Années 1990 with a work program of at least ten years.
It is with much perseverance that the historians will obtain the classification of the hunting lodges to the historical heritage. The city bought them in 1986 and in 1998 renovates them while waiting for a program so that the house of the west is in its bought and renovated turn.
