Pavane (original Title: Pavane) is a novel of Science-fiction of the American writer Keith Roberts published in the the United States in 1968 and France in 1971.

Synopsis

In 1588, the queen Elisabeth was assassinated and, in same time, the Invincible Armada triumphed over the English fleet. Nowadays, in 1988, the authority of the Catholic church extends on almost totality from the world, including England and its colony America, slowing down assiduement any industrial progress which is definitively stopped on the level of the steam engine.

Traditional of the Uchronie, the novel of Keith Roberts was first of all published in the form of news in the American review Science-Fantasy starting from the number of July 1966. The first of the six news was entitled Corfe Gate . The six accounts do not have any common character and, sometimes, any bond between them, the unit finding a coherence only at the end of the work.
