Paulette Cooper

Paulette Cooper is a known writer E American to have been the first nobody to denounce in a book the practices of the Scientologie as to have suffered from the repercussions which its fight against this organization caused.

Childhood and university formation

Born Belgian parents, who were little of time after his birth carried out with the Camp of Auschwitz, she lived in several Belgian orphanages before settling in the United States of America. There, it is adopted whereas it is six years old by the Cooper family. She obtains the American citizenship at the eight years age.

After studies in compared Religion and psychology, it studies the sectarian movements starting from 1968.

Confrontation with the scientology

In 1970, it publishes an important book called the Scandal of the scientology . Initially continued in the United Kingdom by the movement, it continues to expose the sectarian tactics of the organization before being the subject of a new continuation with Los Angeles.

During the years 1970, Cooper is the target of the Opération Freakout, an operation planned by the leaders of the church of scientology who aimed to make it imprison in a psychiatric institution or a prison so that it gives up its investigations considered to be awkward. Threats would also have been sent to Henry Kissinger, but the FBI was seized by the file and could intervene just in time. It is during a searching of the FBI in the offices of the organization scientologist that the details of the Freakout operation were discovered.

After having obtained a payment by amicable agreement of different apart from the courts with the sect, it ceased writing on the scientology in 1985, but it however continued to denounce other dangerous worships. In 1982, it received more the great honor of the Société of the writers and the American journalists. She married the producer of television Paul Noble. They live with Palm Beach and Fire Island and they wrote four books together.
