Paul Vatine

Paul Vatine (Le Havre, July 20th 1957 - October 21st 1999) is a French navigator.

Wire of a Menuisier, it made studies of trade and did not discover the regatta and the race that at 23 years, with the turn of France to the veil 1980.

He became then a team-member qualified and recognized by best the skippers (Loïc Caradec, Philippe Jeantot, Eric Tabarly) in particular in the Transatlantic race Quebec - Saint-Malo in 1984, then in records of the Atlantique, carrying out more than thirty crossings in race, including eight as a recluse.

In 1986, it took the bar of its first Multicoque Nems-Luang until in 1989, then that of the trimaran of the area High-Normandy, partnership which lasted six years. 12th of the road of Rum 1990, 3rd of the Deckchair Quebec-Saint-Malo 1992, Twice first and once second of the Deckchair Jacques Vabre (1993), as a recluse, (1995), in double with like team-member Roland Jourdain, between Le Havre and Carthagène (Colombia), it arrived in second position of the Europe 1 Star, transatlantic race English as a recluse (1992, 1996), of the Route of Rum (1994) and of the Race of Europe (1997).

Engaged in the edition 1999 of the Deckchair Le Havre - Carthagène under the colors of its new partner " Group André" , with like team-member Jean Maurel, it disappeared at sea the October 21st 1999, with broad of the the Azores.

A basin bears its name to the Port of Le Havre.
