Paul Southwell
Caleb Azariah Paul Southwell , born the July 18th 1913 and deceased on May 18th, 1979, was a politician kittittien and of Dominique, which occupied several stations before becoming Prime Minister of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès twice, of January 1st 1960 at July 1966 and of the May 23rd 1978 with the May 18th 1979, date of its death.
Biography
Wire of Joseph and Amelia Southwell, Paul Southwell was born the July 18th 1931 in Dominique (country). In 1938, it joined the forces of polifice of the Îles Leeward, to the North of the Lesser Antilles and controls the island of Antigue, Montserrat, Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès and Anguilla until in 1944.In 1944, it becomes employed in a factory of Sucre, today called Saint Kitts Sugar Manufacturing Corporation , in the town of Basseterre until in 1948. It joined then the St Kitts and Nevis Trades and Labor Union and the Nevis Workers League (Current Workers party of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès) of which it vice-president of 1946 to its death.
Elected to the Legislative council of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès and Anguilla in 1952, it was then to the Executive council in 1955 where it occupied the post of First Secretary of the communication and work in 1956. In 1960, it becomes the first Chief minister of Saint-Christophe-and-Niévès and Anguilla. It, is later appointed vice-president, Minister for Finance, trade, development, industry and tourism under the governments of Robert Bradshaw, 1967 and 1978 and occupied the post of Prime Minister after the death of this last, the May 23rd 1978.
Southwell died less than one year later, the May 18th 1979 with Castries, whereas it was attending off a meeting of the West Indies Associated States Council Ministers to speak about the formation of the Organization of the States of Caribbean Eastern the.
