Paul Smith (dressmaker)
Sir Paul Smith (born in Beeston, in the agglomeration of Nottingham, the July 5th 1946) is a Couturier English. Partly thanks to his fabrics with the emblematic lines of color, Paul Smith forged a name in the universe of the Homme collections. Its extravagance and its work on the Kitsch also did of him one of the dressmakers more in vogue of the beginning of the XXIe century. Impassioned cycling when he was child, he is victim of an accident whereas he is only 17 years old, and which obliges it to spend several months to the hospital. When it comes out from it, it opens its first shop, in Nottingham, then creates its first collections of ready-made clothes for man. Fallen in the world from the mode by chance, Paul Smith however quickly included/understood which would be the assets which would enable him to develop its style and its Marque (it is today with the head of 12 different collections of which Paul Smith, Paul Smith Women, PS by Paul Smith, Paul Smith Jeans, Paul Smith London, Paul Smith Shoes, Paul Smith Fragrance, and Paul Smith Watches). Thus, it is conceived at the same time like a dressmaker and a salesman of clothing; it skilfully combines the traditional lines with keys artistic and innovating which give to its productions Prêt-à-porter airs of original creations. Conceived with Nottingham and London, the collections Paul Smith are mainly produced in England and Italy with a primarily European raw material. Its processions take place in London (for the female collections) and in Paris (for the male collections). The group, which, following the example many creations of the mark, is flourishing, known as to have released, in 2006, a Bénéfice of 300 million Livres sterling. It also opened, in London, in Albemarle Street, a gallery of antiquities.
