Paul Roos
Paul Johannes Roos , known also like Poola Roos or Oom Polla in Afrikaans for Uncle Polla , born the October 30th 1880 with Rus-in-Vrede South Africa and deceased the September 22nd 1948, was a player of Rugby to XV which played with the team of South Africa. It evolved/moved at the station of front.
Career
It disputed its first test match the September 12th 1903 against the British Lions. He played his last test match against the England, the December 8th 1906.He was three times captain of the team of South Africa. He carried out his team in his first round overseas.
The South-Africans make a round in Great Britain and Ireland in 1906. They gain there a name, the Springboks and they mark the history. They carry it 15-12 against the Ireland and especially they beat the Wales 11-0 with Swansea. They make tie then with 3-3 against the England.
4 years only after the War of Boers which divided the country opposing the “Afrikaner S” to the “Coloniaux British”, the Springboks gather the two parts around a shirt, of a cause: to beat the teams of Rugby to XV British and Irish. The team of South Africa of Rugby with XV becomes best world Rugby, no nation will not be able to beat them in a series of test matches during 50 years.
