Paul Rapatsalahy

Paul Rapatsalahy is a writer and Malagasy Journaliste born in 1911 (Ambidivato, province of Tananarive) and deceased in 1989 (Tananarive).

Known under the pseudonym of Idealy-Soa or Paul Kambetty , during his life, it cumulated several linked activities with journalism, the literature and arts.

Cofounder of Printing works Takariva (Twilight), it created the newspaper Takariva as well as many other titles for the press and the radio in Malagasy and French language.

Among its activities, inter alia, it is at the origin of the first publisher of Malagasy discs, of the first contest of participating Madagascar Miss to the contest of Miss Monde, of the first private museum of Madagascar,… It also was representing UNESCO in Madagascar and burning defender of the Esperanto.

Member of the Malagasy Academy, he is the author of an about sixty works ( Ilay tsipika carried out , Myra ,…).

Relatively detached of the nationalist concerns of the Malagasy intellectuals, there remains known like a known popular author to defend the Malagasy culture with contributions resulting from French colonization and its many voyages. Many academic works relate to the whole of its work.

He is the father of Jose Rapatsalahy (Faralahy), also Malagasy author deceased in 1984.

Raised to the rank of Commander of the Malagasy National order, a street bears its name since 2002 in Antananarivo.
