Paul Fraisse (1911-1996) was a Psychologue French known for its work on the Perception of time. He was president of the International union of Scientific Psychology of 1966 to 1969 and directing, between 1952 and 1979, of the laboratory of experimental Psychologie of the Université Rene Descartes - Paris V which formed many experimental psychologists in France.

Having initially followed a course in theology within the framework of a noviciate Jesuit, Fraisse is directed from 1930 towards the Philosophie and philosophy Scolastique. After its license, it specializes in experimental Psychologie at the laboratory of Albert Michotte with the philosophical Institut of catholic Université of Leuwen and supports its thesis on " voluntary movements rythmés" in 1945.

Of return in France, it continues its work on the psychology of the Perception and, following Henri Piéron, in 1952, it takes the direction of the " laboratory of experimental psychology and physiology of the sensations" practical School of the high studies which will become under its direction " laboratory of experimental psychology and comparée". This institution will have an important role in the inscription of experimental psychology in the scientific and university field French as a discipline autononme, in particular with respect to the Philosophie.

Its research tasks relate on the psychology of perception and more particularly to the Perception of time. He is opposed in particular to the thesis Jean Piaget according to which the concept of Temps rests on that speed by showing that the temporal judgment can be affected per many of other parameters. This controversy will not deteriorate the friendship of the two men who will publish together, as from 1963, important a Traité experimental psychology which will comprise up to 9 volumes.
