Paul Marchandeau

Paul Henri Marie Joseph Marchandeau , born with Gaillac (Tarn) on August 10th, 1882, deceased to Paris XV {{E}} on May 31st, 1968, lawyer, Journalist and politician French, entered in 1911 to the Éclaireur of the East of which he quickly became editor association, then chairman and managing director.

He was elected with the Municipal council and became Maire of Rheims in 1925 until he resigns in 1942. In 1926, Paul Marchandeau began a prestigious political career on the national plan. Elected official Appointed of the the Marne, it occupied initially a certain number of stations of under-secretary of State then held successively wallets as important as those of Minister for Finance, Minister of Interior Department, Ministre Commercial and Industry, and Minister of Justice. Furthermore, he was elected General adviser 3rd canton in 1935 and chair General advice of the Marne in 1937. To all these titles is added that of president of the Association of the mayors of France, in 1934.

Knight of the Légion of honor it was titular Military Cross 1914-1918. Freemason, he was the author of the Order in Council of April 1939 prohibiting any demonstration and any hostile word with the Juif S. He was incinerated with the Father-Lachaise and its ashes were brought back to Rheims to be buried with the Cimetière of the South where one can see his medallion bronzes some by Leon Margotin (1859-1937), dated 1930.
