Paul Legentilhomme
Paul Legentilhomme (March 26th 1884 - May 23rd 1975) General of army French, Companion of the Release, military personality of the Second world war.
Years of training
- March 26th 1884 birth of Paul Legentilhomme to Valognes in the Handle
- 1905: It enters to the military special École of Saint-Cyr military school (promotion " the Last of the Bahut" old man;)
- 1907 : Left Cyr Saint the School, it chooses the colonial Infanterie
- 1909: promoted lieutenant
- 1909 - 1912: affected with the 3 {{E}} regiment of riflemen tonkinois, then with the 10 {{E}} and with the 2 {{E}} regiment of colonial infantry (RIC) to the Tonkin
- 1912: affected with the 23 {{E}} RIC in France
The First World War 1914-1918
- 1914 : it takes share with the combat of Neufchâteau in Belgium and is made prisoner on August 22nd
- 1914 - 1918: Internee until the end of the hostilities
Inter-war period
- 1919 - 1920: it enters to the École of War before being used for the Tonkin with the staff of higher general ordering troops in Indo-China then to join 23e RIC in France
- 1924: Major
- 1926 - 1928: affected with Madagascar as chief of staff of the general commander-in-chief before finding, once again, 23e RIC in March 1928.
- 1929 : promoted Lieutenant-colonel, he is chief of EM of the 3 {{E}} DIC
- 1931 - 1934: affected in Indo-China
- 1934: Ordering 4 {{E}} regiment of Senegalese riflemen
- 1937: Second in command of Holy Cyr
- 1938: Detached with the Center of the high military studies, promoted Brigadier general
The Second world war 1939-1945
- 1939 : Higher commander of the French troops in Coast of Somalis.
- June 18th 1940: with Djibouti, in its " General order n° 4" , the Legentilhomme general denounces the armistice and announces his intention to continue the war at the sides of the British Empire.
- August 2nd 1940: leave Somalis to rejoin the general de Gaulle and to join England
- October 31st 1940: arrive in England, It is deposed French nationality by decree of the Vichy government.
- 1941 : Promoted Major general, it orders the free French Forces with the Sudan and in Érythrée under the command of the general Wavell, It then sticks to the creation of the 1 {{free Re}} French light division (1st DLFL) which combat with Raising under its command. On this occasion it is wounded with the arm during a bombardment by the aviation of Vichy. It will be then named national police chief with the War of the French National committee on September 24th, 1941, it will be condemned to death in absentia by the martial court of Gannat but will be joined London at the beginning of the month of November 1941 when he becomes member of the French National committee
- 1942: Fact Companion of the Release by the General de Gaulle on September 9th, 1942, later it will be named Haut-commissaire for the French possessions in Indian Ocean and governor of Madagascar.
- 1943 : Promoted lieutenant-general of army in March, it is named police chief associates on August 5th, 1943 with the National defense of the French Comité of national Release (CFLN) to Algiers then, in October, police chief with National defense.
- 1944 : Ordering 3 {{E}} military region, it succeeds in July 1945 the general Koenig like military Gouverneur of Paris and ordering 1 {{Re}} military region.
The return to peace
- 1947 : it becomes General
- 1950: military adviser of the Minister of France of Overseas
- 1952: adviser technical François Mitterrand at that time minister of state.
- 1952 - 1958: member of the Parliament of the French Union under label UDSR
- May 23rd 1975: the general Paul Legentilhomme dies at 91 years with Villefranche-sur-Mer where it was buried.
