Paul Lecomte

Paul Henri Lecomte is a Botaniste French, born the January 8th 1856 with Saint-Nabord and dead the June 12th 1934 with Paris.

It enters to the teacher training school of the the Vosges and becomes Instituteur with Xertigny then with Épinal. After having obtained its baccalaureat, it becomes repeater with Chaumont and Nancy. In 1881, it obtains a science degree natural and in political sciences. It obtains its aggregation in natural science in 1884 and becomes professor with the Saint-Louis college of Paris.

In addition to its functions, he attends the laboratory of botany of the national Muséum of natural history directed by Philippe Van Tieghem (1839-1914). He obtains a title of doctor in 1889 and takes part in scientific expeditions in North Africa, in Egypt, with the the Antilles, in Guyana and Indo-China.

After having worked with the Natural history museum like voluntary, it obtains the pulpit of the Phanérogame S with the national Muséum of natural history in 1906 in succession with Louis Edouard Bureau (1830-1918). He becomes member of the Academy of Science in 917. He is the author of the wood of Indo-China and the wood of Madagascar (1907). He takes his retirement in 1931.
