Paul Julius Reuter
Paul Julius Baron von Reuter (July 21st 1816 - February 25th 1899) is a journalist and British owner of media of German origin which created the agency Reuters.
It was born with Kassel in Germany in an Jewish family. His/her father is rabbi. Its name of birth is Israel Beer Josaphat .
With Göttingen Reuter met Carl Friedrich Gauss which tries out the transmission of electrical signals per cable.
Reuter leaves for London on October 29th, 1845, giving itself the name of Joseph Josephat . November 16th, it converts with Christianity and changed its name into Paul Julius Reuter . One week later, on November 23rd, he married Ida Maria Elizabeth Clementine Magnus with Berlin. After the failure of the revolution of 1848, it left Germany for Paris where it worked in the agency of information of Charles-Louis Havas, future the Agence France Presse.
Whereas the Télégraphie evolved/moved, Reuter founded the first Reuters agency in Aachen to transfer from the messages between Brussels and Aachen using carrier pigeons. In 1851, Reuter left again for London and installed an office with the London Stock Exchange . Paul Reuter then founded Reuters, who was going to become one of the greatest agencies of financial informations of the world.
The March 17th 1857, Reuter was naturalized Britannique.
A telegraphic bond was established between the United Kingdom and the continent of Europe under the English Channel. This bond was wide to the south-western coast of Ireland, with Cork in 1863. Boats coming from the United States threw cans containing the dispatches off Cork, the cans were recovered and the information telegraphed in London where they arrived before the ships.
The September 7th 1871, Ernest II Duke of Saxony-Cobourg and Gotha, will conferra the title of baron with Julius Reuter.
Julius Reuter had 2 wire of which one named George Baron de Reuter, and a girl who married a count Douglas. George III Baron de Reuter had a successor Oliver IV Baron de Reuter. The last heiress of the family is Marguerite IV Baroness of Reuter.
Julius Reuter mourrut Villa Reuter with Nice. It is buried in London in the family vault with the West Norwood Cemetery.
