Paul Andre Marie Janet (January 10th 1863 - February 21st 1937), French physicist.
Paul Janet is nephew of the homonymous philosopher Paul Janet (Philosophy) and cousin of Pierre Janet.
Entered with the National university in 1883, and received with the contest of aggregation of physics in 1886, it prepares then a thesis of doctorate entitled " Theoretical and experimental study on the transverse aimentation of the drivers magnétiques" , that it supports in 1890 front the Faculty of Science of Paris. It joined then the Faculty of Science of Grenoble where it becomes university lecturer. It teaches there of 1892 to 1894 the first courses of the evening of electricity then is replaced by Joseph Pionchon. It becomes in 1894 the first director of the University of electricity (Supélec) and in 1895 director of the central Laboratory of electricity of Paris, until its death. It is named assistant professor for the teaching of PCN to the Faculty of Science of Paris in 1900, full professor on November 1st, 1901, then full professor of the pulpit of electrical engineering on June 25th, 1922. He is elected member of the Academy of Science on December 8th, 1919 in the division of the free academicians. He takes his retirement in 1934.
