Pietro Barbo (Venice, 1417 - Rome, July 26th 1471) is the 209e pope, under the name of Paul II , starting from the August 31st 1464.

Initially educated like future Business man, it enters the priesthood when his/her maternal uncle becomes pope under the name of Eugene IV. He quickly becomes archdeacon of Bologna and bishop of Cervia and Vincenza. In 1440, 23 years old, it receives the bar of cardinal hands of his/her uncle.

At the time of the Conclave according to the death of Black and white II, it gathers on its name the cardinals dissatisfied with the reign of fire pope. Amateur of magnificence, it introduces in Rome a more spectacular Carnaval and makes build the palate Saint-Marc, current palate of Venice ( palazzo Venezia ). In 1469, it grants an exemption to allow the marriage between Charles of France, wire of Charles VII of France and brother of Louis XI, and Marie of Burgundy because of their family ties. He also issues the Holy year of 1475. -----
