Paul Gregoire

The cardinal Paul Gregoire (October 24th 1911 - October 30th 1993) was a Archevêque of Montreal.
Born with Verdun, it supplemented its studies with Montreal with a license in theology and literary sciences, with promotions in philosophy and history as well as a certificate in pedagogy. In 1929, it received the sacrament of ordination and, after a few other years of study, it became in 1937 director of the seminar of Holy-Therese.
From 1950 to 1961, he was the university chaplain for the students of the Université of Montreal. In 1961, the pope Jean XXIII appoints it titular bishop of Curubis. In 1968, the pope Paul VI appoints it archbishop of Montreal so that it can succeed Paul-Emile Leger. He gives structure to the Curie diocésaine. In 1979, it was decorated officer with the Ordre of Canada. Jean-Paul II the cardinal fact the June 28th 1988. The same year, it is named Cardinal-priest with the Paroisse Notre-Dame of the Very Blessed Sacrament and the Saints Canadian Martyrs. It takes its retirement the March 17th 1990. He dies in 1993, having received the highly skilled title of archbishop . He was priest during 56 years. Its successor is Jean-Claude Turcotte.
