Paul Gateaud
Paul GATEAUD, born with Ozolles (Saône-et-Loire), in 1889. Entered with postal and telecommunications authorities as clerk, Paul Gateaud engages in the trade unionism of its profession. In 1924, whereas it is made in Lyon, it is elected temporary member of the Superior council of the postal and telecommunications authorities. It represents the National union of the agents there, one of the organizations constitutive of the postal federation CGT. Inspector of the stations with Mâcon (71) in 1940, it devotes himself very quickly to an intense activity of propaganda in particular by leaflets. Named principal receiver with Valence, he plays a very important part in the fight against the occupant; control of the nerve centres of the transmissions of the Germans to the storage of weapons and ammunition in the same buildings of the principal receipt while passing by the training of team of sabotage, nothing escapes the activity Paul Gateaud who renders to Resistance eminent services. He is stopped on May 22nd, 1944, conduit in Lyon where he does not betray any secrecy in spite of torture. He is shot on June 9th, 1944 with Communay (Isere).
