Paul Dungler
Paul Dungler (Thann, 1902 - Colmar, 1974), Industrial, Royalist militant and Resistant French. Dungler joint very early rows of the French Action then of the Hood, and it launches out in Politique during the period of the interval wars. At the time of the defeat of May 1940, it is in Périgord where it decides to return in Alsace to join the interior resistance.
Of return clandestinely to Thann in Alsace on August 25th, 1940, it founds the 7th Column of Alsace recorded with London under the name of Réseau Martial. The escape from the General Giraud account among the great achievements of the Network. Dungler is one of the initiator of ORA (Organization of Armed Resistance) and at the origin of GMA (Mobile Groupes of Alsace). Threatened of arrest, Dungler decides to take refuge in free zone while continuing the clandestine fight in relation to London.
In 1943, it negotiates with the Général de Gaulle and the American S with Algiers so that Alsace is present in the next combat of release. The implication of Dungler in the Résistance makes him a local hero today.
