Paul Desains

Paul Desains (1817 - 1885) is a French physicist

Paul Desains studies initially with the college of Saint-Quentin then enters to the Louis-the-Large Lycée. In 1835, it is received with the National university and becomes qualified schoolteacher in 1839. Its first station is with the college of Caen, then it joined the colleges Stanislas, Saint-Louis (1841) then Condorcet (1844) where it replaces his friend Frederic of Provostaye. It obtains in 1848 the science doctorate physics with a thesis of physics on the radiation of heat and a thesis of chemistry on the action of the Iode on xanthate of Potasse and on similar salts of the other alcoholic series. It obtains the pulpit of physics of the Faculty of Science of Paris in 1853, succeeding Claude Pouillet. In 1869, it creates the Laboratoire of teaching of physics of the practical École of the high studies where he is director of studies in the 2nd section. In 1873, it is received with the Academy of Science, substitute Jacques Babinet (Desains 32 votes, Alfred Cornu 13 vote, Russet-red the 7 vote).
