Paul Decauville

Paul Decauville is a Engineer and Business man French born in 1846 and deceased in 1922. It was also Maire of Évry-Small Borough and Senator of Seine-et-Oise

He is the inventor of a system of Railway which bears its name. By extension, the name Decauville east associated with the railroads to Narrow gauge railway, thanks to the very great skill in businesses of its promoter.

The name of Paul Decauville east also associated with the communes of Corbeil-Essonnes and Évry (the Essonne), on the territory of which the Decauville company set up its factories, which it will direct until 1885.

It founded a company of public works in 1910 in order to exploit Brevet S which it had obtained. This company, " Counter of Tools and compressed-air material " , until the end of the Années 1980 survived. Another of its companies, EmiDecau, specialized in the hydraulic presses still exists.

As was a policy, Paul Decauville mayor of Évry-Small Borough (current commune of Evry) (2 mandates?) until in 1900. He was also senator de Seine-et-Oise of 1890 to 1899, Member of the Commission of the Customs, secretary of 1897 to 1899. After having left the Paris region, Paul Decauville was also a time mayor of the commune of Saint-Leger (Handle).
