Paul Comtois

Paul Comtois (August 22nd 1895 - February 14th 1966) was an agronomist, a federal deputy and a lieutenant-governor of Quebec.

Native of Saint-Thomas-with-Pierreville, it studies with the college of Nicolet and the Université of Montreal, then he becomes agronomist in 1918 after a training course.

He exerts his trade and lives in the farm of his family. It Marie with Irene-Anne-Rachel Gill in 1921 with Saint-François-of-Lake. In the Years 1930, he is the appraiser as a chief of the Commission of the Canadian agricultural loan. It has 5 children, Odette, Pierre, Yves, Mireille and Jean.

After having been Marguillier and chair local school commission, like manager with the Office of the agricultural credit, it is elected appointed preserving of Nicolet - Yamaska in 1957, after an attempt failed in 1930.

John Diefenbaker chooses it for the being Minister for the mines and it names it with the Private Conseil. It becomes Lieutenant-governor of Quebec in 1961. The following year, it is honoured by the Ordre with Saint-Jean-of-Jerusalem.

Paul Comtois dies tragically in 1966 of the continuations of a fire in his field with the Wood-with-Coulonge of Sillery while wanting to go to check if all its family had left the house well. He is buried in the cemetery of his native village.

The Paul-Comtois House of the University Laval with Quebec, sheltering inter alia the Faculty of Science of the agriculture and the food of the university, was named in its honor.
