Paul Biya
Paul Biya , born the February 13rd 1933, is the president of the Cameroun since 1982.
Course
Paul Biya' has Bi Mvondo was born in the village from Mvomeka' has, located at the south of the country in the part which was still under French control. He successively passes by the Louis-the-Large Lycée, the Université of Paris, the Institut of political studies of the University of Paris, where he obtains a diploma of international in 1961, and with the Institut of the high studies of overseas.As of 1962, he becomes operations manager with the Presidency of the Republic in the government of the president Ahmadou Ahidjo. In 1968, it is named Ministre General secretary with the Presidency, then in 1975 Prime Minister by Ahidjo. He becomes President the November 6th 1982 after the advertisement broadcast by president Ahidjo of resignation the November 4th. Into 1984, following an attempt at Coup d'etat of its predecessor Ahmadou Ahidjo, it changes political orientation whereas it was still surrounded of old cacic of the former president, often originating in the North of the country.
In March and April 1991, the civil operations of disobedience “Dead cities” and the riots force it to accept free elections.
In 1992, at the time of the first multi-party elections, it would have lost the presidential elections vis-a-vis John Fru Ndi, but would have been maintained with the capacity thanks to massive frauds. It will follow from there a boycott of the presidential election of 1997 on behalf of many parties of the opposition. The October 11th 2004, it is renewed for a new septennate after twenty-two years spent to the head of the country, vis-a-vis a divided opposition and a poll subject to deposit.
Many organizations, like Amnesty International, criticized the mode of Paul Biya, shown to restrict fundamental freedoms of the Cameronians. That included in particular the control of the Media S (newspapers, radio and Television) and of the violations of the Human rights
.
Family
He was married in Jeanne Irene Biya, died in 1992. He has a son Franck Emmanuel Biya.
Today he is married with Chantal Vigouroux, with whom he has already two children, Junior and Anasthasia Brenda, in the same way he is also the adoptive father of the two children of his second Chantal wife, resulting from a preceding relation.
