Paul Jacques Aime Baudry , born with the Roche-sur-Yon the November 7th 1828 and deceased with Paris the January 17th 1886, was one of the most famous representatives of the academic Peinture under the Second Empire.

Wire of a sabot-maker, Paul Baudry enters to the Art schools at sixteen years thanks to a municipal purse. Receipt Grand Prix of Rome in 1850 like William Bouguereau, it is interested in painting of the Corrège. He was mainly a painter muralist, although he also painted historical portraits and compositions. Napoleon III entrusts to him the decoration of the hearth of the Opéra Garnier.

It carries out the decoration of the Fould hotel in 1854, of the hotel Galliera in 1863 and of the hotel of Pava. It also takes part in the decoration of the Château of Chantilly. He voyaga in the East and died before to have been able to carry out his project of decoration of the the Pantheon of Paris on Jeanne d' Arc. Paul Baudry rests with the cemetery of the Father-Lachaise to Paris.
