Paul (dancer)

Antoine Paul , known as Paul , is a Danseur French born with Marseilles the December 21st 1798 and died with Anet in November 1871.

After having danced with Lyon and Bordeaux, Paul begins with the Opéra from Paris in 1820 and will be quickly one of the first dancers favorite of the public. Called the “Air one” because of its technical qualities, Auguste Bournonville describes it as follows: “ the superiority of Paul is due to lightness, elasticity, the speed, the marrowy one and the precision. He can combine the audacity and the natural grace ”.

Paul occurs regularly with London, in particular with his appointed partners Mrs Montessu (her sister) and Mrs Anatole, as with Naples where Stendhal applauds it.

He leaves the scene in 1831.
