Paul-Louis-Felix Philastre
Paul-Louis-Felix Philastre (February 7th 1837 with Brussels - September 11th 1902) was a diplomat French.
Beginning of career
Graduate of the Naval college, it took his service on the Avalance and arrived in Cochinchine in 1861. In 1863, In 1863, Philastre was named inspector with the indigenous businesses in a village of the Mekong delta; 2 years later, it was named director of the indigenous legal businesses. It fell sick in 1868 and had to return to France. During the Franco-German War of 1870 and the Common of Paris, it took part in the defense of Paris by ordering an artillery regiment.
Service with Annam
It turned over in 1873 to the French colonial service to Indo-China. He played a big role of mediator in the French colonial authorities with Annam and it short royal with Hué. He negotiated in 1874 the second treaty of Saigon with the court of Annam.
Erudite work
Philastre was the author of many work on Chinese studies and Vietnameses; most important are the first translation in French of the Yì Jīng and a complete translation of the code of the emperor Long Gia which was based on the code Qing.
