Pattaya

Pattaya (พัทยา) is a town of Thailand, seaside resort internationally known, located in the Province of Chonburi, on the coast of the Golfe of Siam to 147 km in the south-east of the capital Bangkok.

History

Pattaya is only one small village of fishermen until the medium of the Années 1960. They are the American soldiers , stationed on the air base of U-Tapao, a few 70 km more in the east, who make known this pleasant bay equipped with a beach in arc of 4 km length circle. They are the first to justify the construction of bungalows and small restaurants. The War of Vietnam finished and the soldiers left, an embryo of Tourisme develops, which starting from 1980 will experience a vertiginous development. The Russian, Indian and Chinese tourists arrive massively starting from the Années 2000.

The current tourist activity

Since the Years 1990, the municipal authorities seek to attenuate the sulfurous reputation of the city and to direct the activity towards family tourism. The new middle-class of Bangkok is particularly aimed since Pattaya is the seaside resort nearest to the capital. However, the Inhabitants of Thailand privilege for their holiday the town of Rayong.

Pattaya is from now on the first seaside resort of Thailand by the number of tourists attending it. Although the beaches of Pattaya are polluted, tourism of mass settled, tourism primarily directed towards the industry of the entertainment and the sex. The town of Pattaya is mainly made up of two parallel avenues ( Beach Road and Second Road ) dependant between them by streets perpendicular (called oneself ) to the frantic activity. The people wishing more peace will move towards Jomtien, city adjacent of calmer Pattaya and with the cleaner sea. The islands around Pattaya also deserve a visit in particular the island of Koh Larn famous for its nautical reef and its activities.

Attractions

  • Beach Road can be compared with the Croisette with Cannes. Road strewn with shops, restaurants and shopping malls skirting the sea on more than 4 km, Beach Road stops to leave room to Walking Street (the mall).

  • Jomtien Park (more known under the name of Pattaya Park ) is an amusement park, at the origin large Aquatique park, located at the foot of the tower of Jomtien, many attractions are presented, most perilous being the cable car where one descends the tower hung by a simple harness.
  • Alcazar , Tiffany' S is famous cabarets located at Pattaya putting in scene disguised, singers and dancers.
