Patrick de Carolis
Patrick de Carolis is a Journaliste, writer and French TV host, born the November 19th 1953 with Arles. It is since the July 6th 2005 general president-director of France Televisions. He is also president of the board of trustees of the French chain of international information France 24.
Biography
Resulting from a family which finds her roots on the one hand in Italy, from where her back grandfather emigrates in 1900 to fix itself in region of Lion, and, on the other hand, in Provence, where his/her father, Dominique, mobilized in 1943, and his/her mother, Lucette Mounier, meet. It is the last born of a phratry of three children (Alain, Nadine, Patrick). It spends its first years to Arles, city to which it is very attached. His/her mother, member of an old line of Provence carried the traditional costume of Arlésiennes a long time and was even elected queen of the French provinces in 1947. His/her parents settle with Montpellier in the Années 1960, it continues its secondary studies there. The July 6th 2005, it is elected president of France Televisions by the Superior council of audio-visual the (SCUMS). It succeeds thus Marc Tessier with the head of the consortium of French public television (France 2, France 3, France 4, France 5 and RFO). Its election is imposed by the president of SCUMS, Dominique Baudis, against the opinion of the government, the Prime Minister, Dominique de Villepin, having openly given its support for Marc Tessier. But the president of SCUMS does not forgive with this last the part played by France 2 in the Affaire Alegre, and is determined to be avenged. Also it prepares long time its replacement, with the support of advisers of SCUMS thanked for France Televisions under the presidency Tessier (Philippe Levrier, returned head office of France 3, Agnès Vincent-Deray) or which it holds under his influence (Marie-Laure Denis, Sylvie Genevoix, Elisabeth Flüry-Hérard). During several months, it is Patrice Duhamel which has the appearance of a favorite. But, in the last straight line, Dominique Baudis persuades it to yield the place to her best friend, Patrick de Carolis, while making him believe that it will run up against the opposition of the Elysium. Patrick de Carolis is thus elected by SCUMS with the first turn by 6 votes against 3.
The new president de France Televisions renews the whole of the executive teams, except for the managing director of RFO, François Guilbeau, and surrounds himself by faithful and the people who brought their contest in his countryside to him. It wishes to return its identity to the public service, in particular while joining again with a strong ambition as regards programs of culture and discovery. Patrick de Carolis published several works historical or political, whose Conversation , an autobiography of Bernadette Chirac, to which it is close, in the form of talks, judged by some hagiographiqueEn June 2007, it decides not to renew the emission " Stop on images" , one of the oldest emissions of France 5 It published a historical novel of Provence the young ladies of Provence at Plon, the May 4th 2005. The historian Jean-Yves Royer showed it to have, in this work, plagiarized a novel of the writer Thyde Monnier the farm of the four queens (1963).
