Patrick Savidan

Patrick Savidan is a French philosopher (born in 1965). University lecturer in philosophy at the University of Paris-Sorbonne (Paris IV), President of the Observatory of the inequalities, editor association of the review public Reason (Presses of the Paris-Sorbonne University) and deputy manager of the collection " The New college of philosophie" (Grasset).

Anxious to engage philosophy on concrete questions, Patrick Savidan combines normative reflection and knowledge resulting from research in the field of the social sciences. Its work concerns more particularly the questions of social justice and cohesion.

Formation

Initially formed in right (at the University of Toulon) and in political science (at the university of Ottawa, Canada), it then supported, at the University of Paris-Sorbonne, under the direction of the philosopher Alain Renaut, a thesis of history of the philosophy devoted to the concept of subject at Kant. It supports there that the reasons for which the Kantian theory of the subject preserves a topicality are related to the religious presupposed forts of Kant. Paradoxically, it is an aspect " daté" kantienne thought which would explain its contemporary relevance then. Its work fits since in the field of political philosophy and social ethics.
