Patrick Süskind

Patrick Süskind is a writer and German Scénariste . He was born the March 26th 1949 with Ambach (zip code 82541) on the Lac from Starnberg ( amndt Starnberger See ), in Bavaria close to Munich. He studies the history (Histoire medieval and contemporary) and the Littérature with Munich and Aix-en-Provence. He works then as scenario writer for the Télévision.

He writes a theatrical part with a character: " the Double bass " , which will be played for the first time at Munich in 1981. It will be published in 1984. This part is played regularly since its creation in Germany and was played Paris with Jacques Villeret, in the role titrates.

the Perfume is its first novel published for the first time in 1985 in Zurich, under the title Das Parfum, Die Geschichte eines Mörders , then translated into French by F.B. Lortholary in 1986 before being republished by Beech. It is worth with its author a world success. It was the subject besides of an adaptation to the cinema in 2006: the Perfume, history of a murderer . Suskind makes us share in the perfume of its diabolic talent of description, in particular that of the odors. A fine and fluid writing, an effective account are the weapons of this work, which without any doubt belonged to the chiefs of work of the 20esiècle as regards literature. A novel impossible to circumvent which changes our perception of the world of the odors!
