Patrick Pinchart

Patrick Pinchart is a Belgian Journaliste specialized in the cultural field and more particularly in the cartoon. Editor association of Spirou of 1987 with 1993, then in 2005, it is, since, editor of this magazine. One also finds his signature in several other media, under the name of feather Patrick Albray .

Laid off in psychology with the Universit3e libre de Bruxelles, he was assistant at the Institute of Phonetics of the ULB. In full war of the free radios in Belgium, it creates the first emission devoted to the cartoon: " Draw to me a mouton" (two hours of weekly talks on line), on Radio operator Campus. In 1982, it carries out ten hours of emissions on Hergé at the time of the 75e birthday of the creator of Tintin. In 1984, it enters with the RTBF, as stimulating assistant then. It leaves the RTBF in 1987 to become Editor association of the weekly magazine " Spirou ", function which it will occupy until in 1993. Under its direction, the newspaper will become " Spirou Magaziiiine" , and will allow many young people authors to start, of which Midam, the father of Kid Paddle, or François Gilson, creator of Mélusine, Garage Isidore, Cactus Club, Bruno Gazzotti, etc

In 1993, it enters the leading team of the Editions Dupuis, under the direction of Philippe Vandooren, before becoming, in 1995, Multimédia person in charge of the publisher. It will be at the origin of the creation of many CD-ROMs, video games, trailers and of all Internet sites of the Editions Dupuis during ten years.

In January 2005, it again occupies the post of Editor association of Spirou, before becoming, in November of the same year, editor of the same newspaper. It " coache" thus all the young authors who take their first steps in the newspaper. He is from now on also the person in charge of the safeguarding of the inheritance to the Editions Dupuis and, for this reason, deals with the republication in integrals of great classics: Yoko Tsuno, Spirou and Fantasio by Franquin, Natacha, Hair and Tondu, etc

Collaborations in connection with the cartoon

During the years 1970, it launches the magazine “Skblllz”, one of the Belgian first fanzines of cartoon, and collaborates in various others fanzines of data base (data base 70, Vitriol…).

In 1980, whereas the war of the waves beats full sound in Belgium and that the free radios are established vis-a-vis a national radio then monopolistic, it creates the first radio program devoted to the cartoon: “To me a sheep Draws”. During these two weekly hours on Radio operator Campus, all authors of the time, the beginners (Schuiten, Hislaire, Volume and Janry, Jean-Claude Servais, Sokal…) like the professionals (Tardi, Peyo, Franquin, Will, Delporte, Wall, Christin, Jacobs, Jacques Martin, Morris, Jean-Michel Charlier, Bob de Moor…) will come to speak about their trade and their art… until 1985. This year, indeed, the emission will become " Passport for the rêve" and will open with all the forms books. Two weekly hours of this " emission bouquine" will present, in the shape of radiophonic clips (assemblies mixing account, interviews and extracts), of the books and the authors. From 1988 to 1992, it will continue this emission in a daily way with the chronicles " Book, Bouquine" devoted to the topicality of the book.

Its passion for the cartoon, Patrick Pinchart will express it in various supports, written (“Sunday Presses”, " (TO BE FOLLOWED) " , " Books of the cartoon " , " Impressions" ,…), radiophonic (a daily ticket of 1985 with 1987, under the title “Clap data base” on Brussels Radio Inter, and various emissions, weekly magazines or daily, on Radio operator campus Brussels of 1980 with 1996) or televisual (In 1986, organization of a special program “Crossroads” of RTBF devoted to the “Price Saint Michel of the cartoon” with Georges Pradez).

It also was, in 1979, the founder of association " Friends of Hergé" , and in 1982, the editor and the realizer of a series of ten cassettes of interviews in homage to Hergé (“Hergé, mirror of the 20th century”). The same year, he was the police chief of an exposure entitled “the Petit Prince meets the young generation”, devoted to the young hopes of the time (Schuiten, Claude Renard, Sokal, Berthet, Foerster, Tome and Janry, Frederic Jannin, Hislaire, Servais…).

Of 1986 with 1987, it starts a collaboration with the Dupuis editions. Initially, with weekly chronicles in " Spirou" , then, in 1987, by the direction of the “Newspaper of Gaston” (n° special of “Spirou” devoted to Gaston Lagaffe at the time of its thirtieth birthday) and finally, the same year, by the drafting of the book “Signed Franquin”.

After this testing ground, he becomes editor association of the magazine " Spirou" of 1987 with 1993, station which it again occupies in 2005 after the departure of Thierry Tinlot. At the end of 2005, when Olivier Van Vaerenbergh takes his succession, it is named editor of the famous weekly magazine.

Under the name of feather Patrick Albray

With the stop of its collaboration with Radio operator Campus in 1996, it commemorates the centenary of the cartoon by a daily serial on Internet telling the history of the cartoon in the form of éphémérides. It then signs pseudonym created in 1984 on Radio Campus: Patrick Albray.

This experiment is the catch which will govern creation, the same year, of the magazine online” Univers data base”, magazine devoted to the cartoon. . This first ambitious site devoted to the cartoon will be worth to him to be nominated in Belgium, in 2000, like " webmaster of the année".

The same year, it creates the magazine online” Actua data base”, daily newspaper devoted to the topicality of the cartoon (). The two sites will amalgamate a few months later.

From 1993, under the same signature, it will collaborate in the weekly magazines “Glance” (until in 1997) and “the Member of a league” (it always assumes for it the responsibility for the heading “Multimedia”). Its chronicles, published on line, will govern the creation of the magazine “Week-ends.be” () of which he is the editor.

In the year 2000, one finds his signature in the catalog of the exposure “I do not like the culture” (Brussels).
