Patrick Janssens

Patrick Janssens , politician and advertizing Belgian born the September 19th 1956, member of the Flemish socialist party (sp.a). After studies of Political sciences and social at the university of Antwerp (Ufsia) and statistics with the London School off Economics, he becomes assistant at the university between 1979 and 1985. Between 1985 and 1989, it directs the research department of Dimarso market. Between 1989 and 1999, it occupies various leading functions in advertizing office VVL/BBDO (directing strategic, managing director, president of the Belgian branch).

In October 1999, he becomes president of the Flemish socialist party (sp.a), station to which he has succeeds Fred Erdman. Its nomination constitutes a surprise insofar as it were far from known before reaching the direction of this party.

Become burgomaster of the town of Antwerp the July 10th 2003, it is replaced with the presidency of the sp.a by Steve Stevaert. Patrick Janssens is re-elected at the time of the communal elections of October 8th, 2006. Its party precedes - little - on this occasion the Vlaams Belang of Filip Dewinter. The very personal countryside that it carried out, by taking care not to make apparître the logo of the Socialistische Partij , was paying. This result seemed unthinkable a few days before the poll.
