Patrick Hernandez
Patrick Hernandez is a Chanteur composer-songwriter of the years 1970, born the April 6th 1949 with the Blanc-Mesnil (Seine-Saint-Denis). He was the greatest world success of all times with his title disco music Born to Be alive , which would be the tube more sold history of the music.
Biography
Patrick Hernandez makes his first incursions into the world of the music by integrating various groups, in particular " Paris Hotel" De luxe hotel; with which it leaves some 45 turns which are not the success, of which the first version of " back to the boogie" that it will take again a few years later on its first 33 turns with Herve Tholance. Discouraged, he thinks of stopping the music, but its meeting with the producer Jean Van Loo, whereas he occurs on a Parisian scene, modifies his projects. Thanks to him, it records the title Disco Born to Be alive , inspired of old songs with success of several countries, which was in the beginning a song rock'n'roll. The disc meets initially success in Italy in 1978, where it is certified disc of gold, before being published by CBS France the following year. It remains in the first place of the Hit-parade French during four months as from June 1979. In Great Britain, Born to Be Alive reaches the first place of the charts and remains classified during fourteen weeks. Lastly, at the time of its exit to the the United States, it becomes the third tubes more sold of all times in this country (position which it always currently keeps). With final, Born to Be Alive is platinum or gold disc in about fifty country, with more than 25 million discs sold throughout the world. At that time, the disc runs out with approximately 20.000 specimens per day, a still unequalled record.Carried by this planetary success, for which it ensures promotion until 1981, Patrick Hernandez becomes multi-millionaire in a few months, carries out its displacements only in the limousine and causes huge crowd with each appearance in public. However, the remainder of its career suffers from it. Its second 45 turns, Back to boogy , in duet with its accomplice Herve Tholance, left during the summer 1979, is thus very far from the sales of its predecessor, even if it constitutes a success for the artist. After a succession of failures with its other titles, it decides to take retreat until falling down little by little in the lapse of memory.
The success of Born to Be alive makes it possible however Patrick Hernandez to be frequently invited in many television programs devoted to the disco music, and to leave compilations in the years 1990.
It is perhaps the luckiest singer at the same time and more the unlucky person of last century. Nearly 30 years ran out since and Patrick Hernandez remains still deeply disappointed of this terrible failure which it could not overcome to set out again of more beautiful.
Anecdote
Among the troop auditioned by Patrick Hernandez and her producer Jean Van Loo for a promotional round, a young American dancer appeared, Louise Veronica Ciccone, who will become famous thereafter under the pseudonym of Madonna. Having too much personality to appear like simple dancer in the show of Hernandez, Madonna was invited in Belgium to receive other proposals where it would hold the role of principal high-speed motorboat. None of these directed projects disco music was concretized. Contrary to the rumor, Madonna thus never danced for Patrick Hernandez. The character of Patrick Hernandez is a mixture of dandy and English Lord, the nose in the air and always armed with a cane (it had a collection of a hundred canes). This image always sticks to him with the skin, and this famous cane which it tried to make disappear in the Eighties returned in the Nineties.
