Patrick Cousot
Patrick Cousot (born the December 3rd 1948) is a data processing specialist French, professor with the National university with Paris.
Patrick Cousot is engineer of the École des Mines of Nancy, which it left in 1971. In 1974, it supported its thesis of Doctorat of 3rd cycle, and in 1978 its thesis of State in mathematical sciences at the University of Grenoble; the latter carried on the formulation of the abstract Interprétation, its main subject of research since. It is about a theory of the approximation of the behavior of the computer programs, in particular making it possible to make automatic analyzes of them.
In 1974 it joined CNRS. In 1979 he became professor from the universities in Metz, where he worked with the installation of the lesson of data processing. In 1984, he became professor with the Polytechnic school, where he worked to found the laboratory of data processing. In 1991 it passed to the National university, remaining part-time Polytechnique professor until 1997. It there is director of studies of data processing, and is with the head of the research team in semantics and abstract interpretation. In 2005, he was professor invited to the Massachusetts Institute off Technology.
These last years, it in particular was interested in the realization of software of analyzes static for the checking of properties of safety of critical embarked systems, such as those met in aviation.
In 1999, it received the money medal of CNRS, in 2001 an honorary doctorate of the University of the the Saar, in 2006 a Grand Prix of the Foundation EADS rewarding a research which had industrial applications. He is knight of the National order of the Merit and member of the Academia Europaea.
In addition to a great number of scientific publications, he wrote works of initiation to the Programmation.
