Patrick Ascione

Patrick Ascione (Paris, 1953) is a type-setter of music electroacoustic and Acousmatique French.

Biography

After traditional musical studies, it follows a formation of several years (76 to 79) with the IMEB (International institute of music electroacoustic of Bourges, in the past GMEB) and becomes member of the group until 1984. During this period, it carries out many training courses, teaching interventions and concerts very public in France and abroad on behalf of the structure. It in parallel approaches the composition by computer with the IRCAM (Research institute and Acoustic Coordination/Musique), then is devoted to the composition and research.

Guest by the principal and research creations centers (GMEA Albi, GMVL Lyon, CIRM Nice directed by Michel Redolfi, delta P] of the La Rochelle, Musics & Research in Brussels, Networks of media arts in Montreal,…) it is generally with the IMEB of Bourges like to INA - GRM (Group of music research of the National institute of audio-visual) in Paris, that it generally composes.

It obtains the price Villa-Médicis for Canada (Ministry for Foreign Affairs) in 1991.

Its works for the concert or musics of application are for the majority of the orders of the principal studios as well as State and were several times preceded with the most important international contests, created and taken again in France and broadcast abroad by France Musique and France Culture, like by the national radios of Italy, Morocco, the United States, Canada, Germany, Spain, Austria, Belgium, Hungary, Poland, Netherlands, the USSR.

Regularly solicited for jurys of international contests of acousmatic composition in France and abroad, he teaches the music electroacoustic in the EMMA of Cherbourg-Octeville in the class which he founds in 2003 with the assistance of the DRAC Lower Normandy, and also intervenes like trainer in CeFEDeM of Normandy.

Two distinct musical periods characterize its course:

As from 1978, it evokes in its musics the analogy which there exists according to him enters the music electroacoustic and painting all two by nature arts of support and fixing of the sounds and the colors (" Metamorphoses of a Citron" Yellow; , " Blue and formes" , " Polyphony-Polychrome" …).

In 1986 its work direct themselves towards the development of the concept of what it calls the “space polyphony” starting from the techniques of the multitrack Enregistrement and development for the concert of a method of new composition consisting in integrating in the process even of writing of work the parameters of spatialization and diffusion: Spherical Space-paradoxes, Arenas-Around, Songs, Colors of spaces, Holophonie or the red whale, Dances of the paddle, Barcarolle for studio and band, Enième, Ascionerie 1 & 2 (parts in 8 and 16 real tracks).
