Patna

Patna is the capital of the State of Bihar, in the North-East of the India. The city was known before under the names of Kusumpura , Pushpapura , Pâtaliputra , and Azeemabad . Located on southern bank of the Gange, its population, in fast increase, in 1991 was of: 917243 inhabitants.

For the Sikh S, Patna revêt a certain importance: a Gurdwârâ named Patna Sâhib draws up on the birthplace of their tenth and last human Gurû, Gurû Gobind Singh.

The university of Patna opened in 1917. One of the oldest buildings is “Gol Ghar”, built in the shape of hive in 1786. Of his top, one can have a sight on all the city.

Patna is for a long time a shopping mall for the agricultural produce.

Patna was, at the 3rd century, the capital of the kingdom Maghada and the residence of the Indian emperor Ashoka. At the end of its reign, the empire disintegrated and the city started to worsen, it was not restored until the Moghol S start to use like an important shopping mall at the 16th century.
